A lot of their more recent work just hasn't felt diverse enough compared to others, which is a shame because nothing really stacks up to the utter depravity Ranken's work brings to the table. And it's been interesting to see their style evolve over time, from early works showing the characters giving birth one egg at a time, to just jettisoning dozens of them and gallons of cum/slime over and over, and now to birthing fully grown monsters more often than not. It's the latter development that's thrown me off their work lately, as the monsters' designs are a bit too imposing in comparison to things like expressionless insects or piles of tentacles/slime. And I feel like they've somehow gotten it in their head that girls being made to birth different/more fucked up things is what people want, when it's more so that we want to see them being penetrated/filled up in different ways. The end result isn't nearly as satisfying as the journey there, as it were.
Then you have some of their classics being in more unique situations, like Yor in a museum exhibit, Nagatoro/Ahri in a tentacle vase, that one where it was two girls at once just getting railed through one another constantly. There have been some better ones they've made over the past year, but nothing really in the same ballpark as their best, at least to me. Mostly because, as senseless as it sounds in the face of how fucked up this content is to its core, they just haven't pushed the envelope any further. I always enjoyed it when they included breast expansion because it was something different and not often seen, and I kept hoping to see more deviations like a girl being shoved inside another one and made to expand/birth inside of her, forced futa growth, bringing a girl back from a previous scene to see how far they've fallen in the meantime, getting locked in a sentient washing machine full of spooge, I dunno. There's plenty of ideas out there, but it feels like they're just pretty unwilling to drift too far from what they're already used to.
Regardless, it may be due to it being translated but this latest saga feels more petty than anything. Like I don't think anyone's primary complaint was that their individual works were too repetitive; it's the recent body of them together that's become a pile of stagnation because of their unwillingness to get more creative with the situations in which the girls find themselves. But I dunno, we'll see what comes of all this. Ranken really is a great artist and it would be tragic to see them call it quits.
