Yes I agree that she is being watched and that she has to be carefull around staff but we also get her internal thoughts which unless the sisters and staff are able to read minds she does in her thoughts that she enjoyed being mean or doing a certain thing with Kane and others.So you answered your own statement. She is specifically being watched to make sure she is neutral and objective. This is stated quite clearly, which you should have picked up..if you have played it as much as you said in the last fortnight

As for Kiyomi although she is loyal to one of the sisters but she also has a kind side to her as seen with her interactions with Seth. So yes she maybe reporting back but I think she might have her own agenda with Kane because of her own connections to the DeKocks and Otto. We even see in a scene with Otto outside the research facility that she will go against the Karlsson group and allow Otto to rescue Cole.
I think Kiyomi will be a big ally of Olivia in the future.

Is it worth having a route ready where you skip helping at the game show (getting the scene in Veronica's lab instead) or would it be better off waiting on that route until part 3?
The "problem" I always have with this VN is there are so many moving parts it's hard to remember what I did on whatever route. I think it's one of two VNs where I actually use a separate doc to try to keep up with things.

Or wait until I've played that route and I'll tell you what happens...or, more importantly...doesn't happen lol. I would certainly receommend having a save with not doing the game show though...I have a sneaky feeling (just my personal opinion) that is key to V's route...if the evil scientist gig is your thing.

I think we already got part of the answer to that question when we saw the flashback with Veronica and Alexander (and Kitty serving him)...Based on that scene, we can assume that Kitty has been something of a obedient servant to Alexander since childhood, so his evil has penetrated her particularly deeply.
We don't know anything about the conditions in which (and, more importantly, by whom) her older sister was raised, but judging by the fact that Kiyomi still retains her integrity and even has her own code of Honor, her childhood and youth were clearly different from Kitty's.

I imagine kitty rose by being Elena's right hand woman, though I do wonder how that happened given that in the flashbacks at least she appeared to be under Alexander's thrall

Well As Alexander and Elena were close maybe Kitty transferred to Elena. Although I think I remember when Elena and Olivia were talking in the office and Elena wanted to kitty to serve Olivia as she had her, Elena said that kitty had be serving her for a long time.

I don't imagine Alexander and Elena were all that close after he blamed her for breaking up him and Callista and he had her daughter kidnapped
There is something I don't understand about Callista and it has been bothering me for a long time.
First of all, she could have taken her family to a safe place with the help of deCOCKS. (if only Alexander's men were to be feared)
If Alexander had threatened Kane with a programmed disease or poisoning or chip she could have asked help from the deCOCKS then put Kane into stasis. (like Astrid)
Finally she could have blackmailed Alexander then Veronica with Olivia's life. (and in this way she could have obtained help for Seth or stasis)
In the light of the above, I think it is clear that that the gambit is far more important for Callista than the life of Kane.
