Well, you are right, but there is a little paradox here: You have to limit the player's freedom to make him feel more free! Well, having to watch the clock and making your character eat and stuff like that are tiresome tasks. Tasks you do not WANT to perform and that don't feel like they bring you nearer to your goals (or gals for that matter).
More realism does not always mean better! Is a movie better when you see the main character on the toilet or sleeping for a couple of minutes? No. The human mind can actually work better when it's restricted in some ways. On stage for example, you get more creative when there are some limits, some rules to your acting.
A good example for this in a game is returning home at "night" in Summertime Saga. It FEELS like it's late and you sneek into the house. When you hear your mother and aunt chatting in the kitchen and overhear their conversation it even feels like you are a teenager oder a young adult and you're doing something forbidden. This works because your mind is at "it's night now". I doubt a 24h-clock-system could really feel that alive. Actually Summertime Saga makes it perfectly right. Some games like A Town Uncovered or Milfy City are okay too. I hope Eden will be like those games.

Well, it's just a matter of an approach. More realistic, complex gameplay might be better for some and worse for others. I love such a thing and find SS a bit too straightforward when it comes to its sandboxiness. We will se how dev's vision looks for this one.

Yeah the new UI would absolutely render any old saves useless.
