What he's trying to do, considering his patreon page and overall behaviour - to create elitist vibe around his project. I mean, just look at the description of lowest level actual supporter of his work:

It's like "ait, worthless maggot (maggots actually a higher title, my bad), let it be so, you can read what's goin on from now, go fucking hang out at special bum-room for others like you. What? Wanna play my game for that pathetic 1$? Are you fucking crazy?!"

Moving on, for 5 bucks you can check the update after 2 weeks, when all the big guys already long ago nutted themselves and discussed all the details. Although fuck knows what's goin on there, maybe same sweet cospiracy theories for months after each update? Anyway, at this level creator is suggests you to discuss it in the same room with 1$ bums in order to advertise them new hot stuff enough for the raise.

The following levels are starting to look decent (although polls only at 10 and walkthrough at 15 as you guys know worth mentioning) and I'm not going further with impressions but I beleive it's quite clear that hiding even basic info fits into the overall pattern perfectly. So, it's not insane at all and it's truly his business, however dunno about you guys, but personally I cannot respect this greedy corpo-style approach. No way.

Besides, it works while he's on the edge (yeah, I'm almost convinced now) but if some let's say small teams will start outplay him on his own field all this attitude would backfire big time. With all that steam release tendency now I'd say it's quite possible.

It's a renpy VN adult game that caters to like 0.0001 % of the gaming market , i don't think he has any reason to give off an elitist vibe based on those credentials nor do i think he is doing that at least imo. The problem stems from how he has arranged his patreon tiers and rewards. That 1 $ tier should be removed, it's kinda pointless. It should start with 5 bucks and give access to all development updates in that tier plus maybe one pole , then 15 $ for render rewards and finally a 30 - 40 $ tier which gives access to everything. Keep it simple and with the whole discord thing yeah he done fucked up with that though.

As for his steam releases , that's a different beast. Steam won't do jack shit to promote adult games , never have never will but gabe is greedy enough to allow them on the platform which is quite welcomed imo. So if he is being a dick no pun intended to possible customers it will backfire cause his only promotion is word of mouth from people on his patreon and ofc from the good folks here and his twitter page. And some devs and teams are already outplaying him , many people just don't know them cause they haven't released on steam. DPC got a big boost to his patreon mainly cause of his steam release of AL

That's not correct. Steam, as a platform, has many tools to promote any kinds of games. Reviews, curators, recommendation system, not to mention possibility to watch your friends to buy/play thouse games and all that social stuff.

It's a huge opportunity to advertise the game, simply because scope is MASSIVE, I thought it's quite obvious. More people to know the game - more chance to get new patrons.

Idk maybe like 50-100 in that tier. Majority have to be at the 10-25 tier and I think releasing on steam is like a badge of honor and kinda signifies like hey I am a legit dev but than again steam is littered with unity asset flip games lol but I think he mainly did it to see if he could actually pull it off. Now with this game idk if it will have the same level of success as AL cause steam users are harsh and will nitpick like crazy. You should have seen what some did to depraved awakening oof it wasn't pretty
