you know what's funny joshy even when I play a game with the harem tag I still try to only simp for 1 at time. Unless it's clear it's meant to be played like a harem. As ive played some where it's optional and that tag isn't the main focus of the gameplay.

Really shouldn't post drunk before passing out. Didn't mean to open up the harem can of worms. But that said...
It makes a sort of sense, if it's any value to you. But I gotta ask in counterpoint, do you treat your friends that way? Does having two friends diminish either friendship? Does making a third make the other two less special? If not, why is it different?
The same thing applies for romantic love, to me. If I love someone, and express that love with them, that is between me and them. But if I love someone else and express that love to them, it doesn't take away from the love I have for the other person. It only takes away the time I have with them. But so does work. And friendships with people that might not be shared with this beloved person. And hobbies that the lover isn't involved in. And even time to myself so I don't straight up set fire to the couch out of stress. So after factoring as many of those into my time as I can, it's already an understanding that my home life isn't going to be completely devoted to them. (and forget adding children into the mix!) And attempts to make me feel bad for not giving them even more of myself tread all over that "how much of somebody do you need" level of toxic monogamy I think is just socially encouraged co-dependence.
I'm not trying to challenge you on a fundamental belief or anything. I'm just trying to say my perspective of things from my experience (without going into said experience, of course).
I'm not going to say all polyamory is fair game here specifically. there's a certain sort of compromise given the audience (the NTR crowd). And again, I am not trying to complain about this game specifically being ruined if NeonGhosts doesn't give into my demands or insane things like that. (NeonGhosts, dude, you're fantastic, and I'm here to the bitter end and probably the next game. You're a hell of an author/artist thus far.) But even selfish dick style poly triads are weirdly under represented in fiction, given the freedom to assign character traits by the nature of being created whole cloth. My entire point was to express confusion in this prevalent understanding that people are supposed to play around as much as possible, and then pair off anddie ride off into the sunset. Like, that's the ideal. The goal. The reason to be. Even in fantasy it's all that can be aspired to.
But how is it really superior to prune all but one of the perfectly healthy branches from a tree that can bear fruit? Yes pruning some branches does sweeten the fruit that will result from the branches that remain, but a tree is more than one branch. My metaphor is going to get away from me. I'm trying to say that you put yourself into this thing with multiple people, and then at some point the expectation is to sever those ties (often completely, which is downright sociopathic) and focus exclusively on one like that was the prize all along. Which both changes you (because you're now not the person also branching out all of those other ways) and presents you as the sort of person who would drop others like a bad habit because as important as they might have been to you, nobody is so important they can't be dropped the moment they're not the goal. But you were building something with those other people, and it might have been just as real. (as real as any story is anyway).
Talking about feeling real or unreal, or breaking the immersive qualities. You're already juggling sometimes a dozen love interests in half these games. You're already that person. Is the audience supposed to feel that this was a personal growth thing? That now you only "need" one person because you've matured? Cause that's never how it's presented. I really don't understand why the trend is so uncommon to deviate from. Some of it is a limit of these games. Very few of them have a way to be single minded from the start, sure. But also they're rarely set up to make sense or be anywhere near as engaging if they're not predicated around establishing sex scenes (fair enough, a conceit of the genre).
I do agree that full up harem games are usually super fake though. Like, those aren't people. Those are just sex bots(a totally worthwhile persuit, but not what i'm trying to discuss). Which is kind of why all of this was started in 'awe' of the preference of a couple over a thruple.

If it's social, it's natural by definition. What could be more natural than people shifting their desires based on the situation?
Anyways, I guess I'll throw my 2c in the debate. Are we talking monogamy as in 1 partner for life? Or monogamy as in 1 partner at any given space of time? Because if the former, sure, humans are probably much more polyamorous than monogamous. But if the latter, there's no way that I'm buying that the average man (or woman for that matter), ancient past or no, is ok with their current amore dipping into other waters. I'd say multiple simultaneous partners is more often through force or deception.
Arrangements of convenience, politics, or just sexual flings are different; but even then, if there's going to be multiple partners, it's doubtful they want to know anything about each other, much less participate together. All of this is speaking in generalities ofc, obviously there are some unique and interesting ppl out there who don't get jealous as much.
BTW, having said all that, I have zero interest in RL sharing, but I honestly do like virtual sharing in these VNs, especially if it's dominant and there isn't much interaction w/ the other dude (not so bad if he's written as a likeable guy, though). It's like having fun ripping apart a dude in MK while in RL, I'd be absolutely scarred and horrified haha. I'm looking forward to that with Brit. Sharing, I mean... not ripping her apart
Another solid candidate would be Cassie for obvious reasons. The idea of big bro cucking some poor sob that's in love w/ our dear lil sis is pretty hawt

Listen, I'm not going to argue much more with you on this issue, because it's already gotten off-topic, but, it doesn't matter what you buy, because I'm only stating something that's widely accepted to be true, it's not my opinion. Polyamory isn't only about romance/commitment, it also applies to purely sexual relationships outside of a relationship. And monogamy means one partner, sexual or otherwise, monogamy isn't one partner for life, that would be a ridiculous standard. As far as games go, I prefer harem/poly games, but I still enjoy games exploring monogamy from time to time as well. As far as real life goes, I'm very much polyamorous, although, I have no interest in sharing my partner with another guy romantically or emotionally. Sexually is a different story though. I'm not a jealous or overly possessive person, and I don't view sex as this sacred thing that should only be done with someone you're committed to/in love with. This is just my view on things, I have no delusions of how many people don't share my view on things.
For this game in particular, I'm waiting to see which characters are going to be up for polyamorous relationships, before I lock in what my main save/playthrough will be, assuming at least one character I really like (Nicki, Ashe, or Mason) is up for it, then they will certainly be my main save.

Not gonna lie even tho I prefer just 1 LI at a time. I kinda of hope Ashe & Nicki will be open to a throuple at some point as those are my favorite LI in this game and be interesting to see how that one plays out. As it kind of does feel like there is no way in hell Ashe would be down to share you with anyone. So it kind of seems it would be a near impossible sell to be honest. So to me that sounds like it would be interesting to see how that one plays out if it happens. Tho if they become a throuple option in the future that would be my 3rd save.

I think Ashe will be open to threesome's (she's already teased as such), but that's about it. For my top 3 characters, being Nicki, Ashe, and Mason, I think Ashe is the least likely by far to share you with someone outside of threesomes. I doubt she will go for an open relationship or a throuple, but hey, who knows for sure. (Besides Neon obviously)

If I can get a throuple with Nicki and Mason (or possibly a quad with them + someone else I like), then I would be over the moon. My next hopeful choice would be an open relationship with either of them, where they are okay with me sleeping with others, and possibly bringing in the others for threesomes.
