I mostly agree with what youre saying but from what Stray was saying, the depravity of Debbies story was axed. Essentially he said that in Debbies original story if you tried to get too far along with her Debbie she would try to stop it before they went further and then start up again to hit the next goal post. Essentially how her story is now incest or no. It sounds like in the new version Debbie gives in a lot easier and doesnt try to push the goal post back of where their relationship is. And I agree with Stray that sounds like a downgrade.

Frankly I'm not sure how they could salvage this, if this really is the direction DC is going. It was fine when Debbie was the "landlady", Jenny was a 'fellow tenant', etc, and we could just use mods to get around it and get back to the original relationships; since, lets be real, that was what drew a lot of us in and kept us around.

But if everybody really are going to be story-locked into just being permanently disjointed acquaintances, then it's hard to take it as anything less than a slap in the face to those of us who have stuck beside DC through everything these past few years.

No, according to the 2nd video in my post - they specifically state that whatever they have done for Debbie's rework will be put into November's update, but it will not be completed. StrayError states that it "probably doesn't include a whole bunch of loose ends right now." There will be some in November's - but not a significant amount.

They have stated several times in the past 2+ months that Debbie's rework will take more than one update. They really didn't kick it up on the rework until after they had put September's update to bed.

Dude, Sploosh and DC remind StrayError in the video - that people can already replay scenes in the old version. That's all that is being discussed about the rework, besides that some of the scenes may get moved around on when they occur. Stray didn't like that players can repeat in-game the replays with Debbie on sex scenes that already happened in the old version and he doesn't like the idea that they will be able to do it in the rework.

Nothing has changed in that aspect.

DC and Sploosh state she will still have reluctance and guilt as Anon and her sexual activities progress ... just like now. And just like now, if players want to replay those scenes, they can. Stray doesn't think that players should have the ability to replay those scenes simply because they've 'unlocked' the scene. But Stray is the coder, not the lead developer. The story and vision for the game is DC's and Sploosh's (though, Sploosh does mention the lust variable that sounds like they may want to have some activities not available for replay unless a person's lust is elevated enough - but sounds like Stray hasn't figured out the code for that yet).

And, as they state in the 2nd video I posted - they aren't changing anything about Debbie's relationship with Anon. Keeping it so that should they ever stop promoting the game on Patreon, they have been writing everything so that making a switch in relationships (to the way you would desire) is simple and easy.

If what you are thinking they are saying were true, then it would make their job much harder down the line to make that switch.

Ok so fine they will work around Debbie not being the mc's mom . But what will they do about the sex with her twin sister (change her appearance) ? This game was obviously conceived with incest in mid - between the mc and his sister (who look alike and Jenny looks like her mother ) , mother (Debbie) , aunt and group combination between them. Eric and his mom too had obvious incest taboo with the mc discovering their relation . But now finally the dev is addressing the elephant in the room. I bet he will make sure incest is removed and even mods wont be able to restore it (no with a simple conversation patch anyway). First, ever since 2018 - Anon has not been related to Diane, Debbie, or Jenny. Ever since 2018, Diane and Debbie has not been related. Ever since 2018, Eric and Tammy Johnson have not been related. From 2018 to 2021, Debbie and Jenny were not related. In 2021, they restored the relationship of Debbie and Jenny to mother and daughter. Why is this worry about relationships coming up all of a sudden after 6 years of it being one way?

Second, this was addressed in the second video that I posted earlier. They are specifically writing the script in such a way to keep the possibility of reverting the relationships should they stop promoting the game on Patreon.

They do not have the intent (explicit or implicit) to make mods not work (they don't even have that ability).

They are continuing to write the script for a "quick and easy" way to revert all relationships in the future, should they decide to if at some point they step away from Patreon for promoting the game. That's nearly the exact opposite that your tinfoil conspiracy theory is fomenting.

The incest community has always been very vocal. Given that the game did well even after DC removed the incest - even though quite a few people over here said nobody would play it anymore - I kinda doubt that the vast majority of players really cares.

As to why people like it? Well, it's just a fetish among many...

I was a patron when the switch happened and I was very disappointed, but I understood the reasoning and couldn't fault them. It was assured, at that time, that you'd essentially continue to see poor writing with regard to the home stories and I've been happy it's continued to be the case. Nothing adds up in the story unless it involves incest. I've always appreciated the ability to read between the lines and that modders can easily make the switch back. I used to sloppily hack into the game and re-write much of the dialogue with the .20 version and prior.

I knew with the Roxxy update that the fan base had made a major shift. The Roxxy update was a home run. To be fair, the guys over there could do a complete re-write, change the art, and make the land lady thing work and it not miss a beat. I think they might lose some money, but I don't think it would be enough to make a real difference. It's probably the one thing that could get me to let the game go completely. However, I agree with the Count, I don't believe this is going to happen. I think people are making a mountain out of an ant hill.

Fast forward a decade to some shenanigans, and Frank is killed, leaving his son living with Debbie and her daughter, Jenny. Franks death is a catalyst for them coming together through a series of events that help to influence their decisions. During that time, her long time friend from college (Diane), who's a horn dog, also encourages Debbie to pursue the MC, because she's sexually frustrated and alone, reminding her that the MC is of age. One thing leads to another through slow and gradual interactions, that lead into a sexual relationship of not only her and the MC, but a rekindling of Debbie's and Diane's intimate college days.

I'm going to try to answer this question and hope there was no malice or sarcasm wrapped up in your intent.

As a kid I can remember watching the movie Biloxi Blues and Matthew Broderick's character visited a prostitute. He was unsure of the encounter and she tried to reassure him and get him into bed. She said something along the lines of "Come to mama", which he disliked. I remember kinda liking that and wondering if that was wrong of me. The same thing happened in the movie Moulin Rouge where Satine tells Christian "Oh, yes yes yes, let mommy help".

I've always been attracted to very feminine nurturing mature women my whole life. I chased down stories with this theme and they were always attached to incest. It wasn't until years later that I figured out that I have a mommy kink and not necesserily an incest fetish. In some respect the two go hand-in-hand, but it doesn't have to. I don't mind and maybe even somewhat like the "wrongness" of the incest fetish, but it's not the defining thing for me. Mommy kink is a form of soft female domination. I like wide hips, full thighs, round back side, large breasts... things that define the extreme physical feminine. I also like nurturing, being fussed over, intimacy, closeness, kissing, breast play, going down on a woman, and grinding. I will play and enjoy all parts of StS, but the ending I choose (if there ever is one) will be the one that ends with Debbie. I feel like Debbie was written specifically for me.

In the game Knight of Love, the creator decided to go the mommy kink route and I really like the idea. I love the art of Karen (the mommy character), but I don't love the way the writing is delivered. There is real potential there for my tastes, however. I've often wondered if Summertime Saga could be re-written in a similar fashion, but I just can't see it. It would take an overhaul to re-write the story and create new art for 5 characters so, in the end, I think keeping "incest" is what's best for Summertime Saga.

I kinda got the vibe Debbie and Frank were meant to be boyfriend and girlfriend now, each with their own kid. That's how you would write around even the step angle, even if only in a very technical by-the-letter-of-the-law way.

But yeah, the visuals work against that. Especially with Erik and Tammy.

It's not overly explicit that they're just friends, seeing as they have photos of their kids together from years ago. They may not have been living together, but the idea of them being romantic isn't exactly far fetched, seeing as Debbie took the MC in and treated him like family.

- Frank would've slept in the same bed as Debbie in that very same house, even if not always.
- There was only one car, because Debbie was playing the role of the housewife, even though they weren't married.
- Again Debbie was the "housewife" while Frank was the man of the house.
- Debbie took the loss of Frank hard, because she was romantically involved with him, even though they weren't married.
- Jenny felt he was like a father figure, even though they weren't related.
- Is it implied that they shared a bank account? I'm not sure on that one. If they did share a bank account, perhaps it was because they were playing house, while not married. The only other financial connection I recall, is the debt that's owed to the Russian mob by Frank. The mob isn't concerned whether or not they were married.
- Why do they look alike? Look up Twin Strangers
