After living in Spain for a time,I know that Flamenco is a mostly powerful dance.The war between the bull and the bullfighter.
Purists can sneer, but this compilation is simply wonderful, a celebration of the beauty of the human body and the rhythms of the heart. And it's a great appetizer and introduction for those who will now want to look into the great depths of this art, and some of the legendary artists, like Carmen Amaya and others. Brava! Bravo!

not my type of my music. I like Paco better or even Gipsy king kind of rhythm on the guitar when playing and claps. Not the drum. The dance seems off to me

Mi bisabuelo materno era andaluz y nos quedó el cariño por la madre patria. Además ustedes tuvieron casi 1 milenio de influencia árabe, así como en sudamerica tuvimos 300 años de influencia española...bueno!.

I don`t think so :) it`s folklore and maybe it gets it`s appreciation in another age group. I grew up with yodeling for example, but don`t listen to our folklore daylie :)
Flamenco is not folk form in the empirical definition u r trying to support. There are world class academies for flamenco as a rather unique musical genre that combines poetry, instruments and dance. Art form. Nothing doing with yodeling as communal singing practices.

No hay palabras para expresar la gloriosidad de esta compilacion de baile flamenco. Se me dio cuenta de la historia comun entre los espanoles, los moriscos, y los negros mientras escuchaba al ritmo dinamico, los tambores, el movimiento del cuerpo, y el energia contagioso

Yes they do at Ferias. the Spanish women still wear the dresses especially in Southern Spain.

¡El flamenco es ante todo andaluz antes que español!
Fuera de España es poco conocido que la auténtica música de España es la Jota. Una música medieval que además se toca por prácticamente toda España, incluida Andalucía, aunque especialmente se toca y baila en los viejos reinos del norte (Aragón, Navarra o Castilla-León). El flamenco es del sur de España (Andalucía, Murcia y Extremadura). En el norte de España apenas nadie sabe tocar o bailar flamenco (creo que esto en el extranjero casi nadie lo sabe, pues se tiende a pensar que el flamenco se toca o baila en toda España).

Cada municipio del reino de Castilla tiene su propia Jota. Es la música más tradicional, la que se toca el día del santo patrón o en las fiestas de cada pueblo
@@josejose5059 Creoq ue salvo en Andalucía, apenas nadie sabe bailar flamenco. Es cierto que existen palos del flamenco en el sur de extremadura, pero la mayoría de la comunidad no tiene ni idea. Aquí lo típico es la jota y el fandango (no el andaluz). Yo la jota la verdad es que la asocio más a castilla y león, castilla la mnacha, aragón, y valencia, y a mi propia extremadura, que a ninguno a Navarra XD Pero bueno, sí, es el baile más común y extendido. El fandango también, pero no tanto (repito, no el fandngo andaluz, que es super aflamencado).

These are clips from Riverdance, which was phenomenal. I find it interesting and fascinating that Spanish and Irish dancing are so similar. That ending was so beautiful!!
Which River dance are you referring to? Most Irish dancers have their hands at their side all the time.
I do see similarity in the footwork. Very intriguing. I was a flamenco dancer when I was young. I also play the flamenco guitar.
It never occurred to me to ask what were the origins of the footwork!
I did know the so called gypsies were Romani. There was some Moorish influence as well. Not just in the music, but the architecture. If you're interested look at the architecture of Cordoba.

A flamenco performance par excellence. Strikingly beautiful body movements, overall tremendous grace and gusto with minimal subsuming fine music support. Of course, grand footwork with glide at times seem to be like swim-walk on the floor, added to and provided its own music..
ugh it keeps cutting to the next video just when I get into the one we're watching! I'd strongly prefer a 40 minute version with full performances.

@@mercecieza9898 Te envio unos enlaces donde prueba que el zapateado viene de Canarios pues fueron nuestros ancestros los que introdujeron el zapateado/taconeo al baile tanto en Europa como las Americas. Never Happened did you see some Arabic dance like this? Please, be kind. Flamenco hat it's origin in a blend of cultures, In Spain, it was there where all the ingredients where together. Flamenco is not Arabic, it has arabian influence ...no doubt . Bu it is completely spanish
